How do you remove Picasa albums/pictures from Gallery on Samsung Galaxy S4
I have just got my Samsung Galaxy S4 and I have noticed that it has imported all of the pictures and albums from Goole Picasa to my gallery. I find that very anoying and I was looking for a way how to stop it from doing it so. Here’s how to solve it.
First check if auto data sync is enabled:
1. Go to Settings and at Connections tab select Data Usage
2. In properties enable Auto sync Data (To get the properties click on the button on the left side from your Home button on your phone at the bottom right side)
After that’s done let’s disable the Picasa
1. Go to Settings and at Accounts tab select Google and then select your Gmail account (most of you have only one, I have three and if you have more than one repeat the following step for every account)
2. On the next page disable Sync Picasa Web albums (and you can also disable Sync Google+ Photos)
That will prevent future pictures from being downloaded from Picasa to your phone, now let’s clear the current ones:
0. NOTE: If you have the phone running on latest Android (Marshmallow) please scroll down since this changed a bit so following three steps are slightly different now.
1. Go to Settings and at More tab enter Application Manager
2. Once you’re into Application Manager at the top go trough the tabs above until you reach move the tab All
3. Then and find Gallery application, click on it and then click on Clear Data button and confirm.
Now you will no longer have Picasa pictures in your Gallery on your Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGS4) phone. This guide also works on Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 and probably on some other Galaxy phones. If you have just bought a new Galaxy phone check out some cool accessories, chargers and cases for your phone:
26th July 2014 Update: Added a blog post on how to remove Facebook Albums from Gallery app on Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4.
27th June 2014 Update: I have added screenshots made with my phone to help you out disable Picasa on your Galaxy Phone even easier. If you phone is in other language switch it to English, then disable Picasa as descibed above in the post and then switch the language back to your preferred language. This will minimize chance of making an error.
29th September 2016 Update: Users of newer devices running on latest Android (Marshmallow) should use this guide:

Thanks for posting this! Ive been trying to figure out how to solve this problem ever since getting my phone! What’s funny is that the Picasa images dont even show up in my gallery, until I create an message and click to attach an image to it, then all of a sudden there are all these extra galleries!
Thanks again!! :0)

I really wish this worked with the Galaxy 3 Tab, but it doesn’t. I will move all my photos to another account, because I really don’t want to carry them around. I guess it’s a problem of anything Google–no privacy!
But, if anyone knows how to fix this in the new Tab 8″ (software 4.2.2) please help. I came to Samsung to get away from iOS7 and am in super anxiety state because it is soooo different.

There’s a MUCH easier way to do it…IF you want to stop the Synching from the much-despised Picasa.
Just go to your Gallery Albums, select Menu, Content to Display….de-select “Content in Picasa”.
If Dropbox is also bugging you, de-select it also. If you don’t like the results, you can re-de-select them easily.

I accept photos loaded from desktop to G+ on my smartphone. I do not shoot photos on my phone. I use a DSLR, put in desktop computer, upload to G+ album, and then these photos automatically appear in my smartphone Gallery. Where are the files stored in my phone? Can I plug my phone into a desktop computer USB port, open a phone folder on my desktop monitor and see all my G+ JPG Files stored? Does a 3mb file that I have uploaded to G+ from my desktop computer that subsequently appears in my phone Gallery – does that same file occupy 3mb of storage space in my phone?
Tony
February 1, 2014 - 4:54 pm
Same photos from your G+ will be synced to your phone. If G+ doesn’t resize them – yes it will take same amount of space on your phone. Pictures should be stored in /DCIM folder at your phone. You could see all the pictures on your computer if you connect phone to it using USB cable and go to /DCIM folder…

THANK YOU!!!!! EXACTLY my problem too! It duplicated ALL MY PICTURES blowing up my SD card so that I have zero room to update apps, which btw I selected to so manually!!! To get thru google or youtube sign in, it won’t even let you proceed without approving picasa access! Fucking BULLSHIT! I disabled the app shortly after and got rid of that annoyance. Until last night! For some reason it started to update all this crap by itself duplicating 1000 Pictures on my phone and if I want to delete them via Google it will delete EVERYTHING on my fucking device! No option to privacy here. No option to have things customer preference! Google fucks you with going behind your back and then punishing you by deleting all your shit. I am BEYOND livid right now! Because now I have to do a factory data reset to get rid of this stupid ass album I never wanted in the first place! FINE IF you NEED to back them up online but does it have to be copied to your device?????

Wanted to find out. Well make 100% sure if I do step 3…↓
3.Then and find Gallery application, click on it and then click on Clear Data button and confirm.
Will it definately only delete the google + and picasa photo albams? Really would hate to loose my other albams.. 🙁
